The York Region Centre for Community Safety officially opens it doors and begins service provision

Key partner agencies signs formal agreement with York Regional Police to deliver on-site service

The Steering Committee conducts process evaluation in conjunction with York Institute of Health Research  to document the development and implementation as well as identify governance and service delivery structures.

April 2012

The project receives funding from Ontario Trillium Foundation to implement the family justice centre or community hub model.

November 2011

Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region Inc. secured funds from the United Way of York Region to develop the Framework for Action.

May 2011

Sandgate Women’s Shelter of York Region Inc. indicated their formal committment to lead of the family justice centre or community hub and received support from partner organizations.

February 2011

The members of the focus group formally created governing structure for the organization. The Steering Committee offers guidance to the staff and the working groups to implement the YRCCS mission.

January 2011

York Regional Police initiated  a focus group created comprised of service providers to discuss the idea of creating a co-location model in York Region.

2008 – 2011

York Regional Police initiated a dialogue with core Violence Against Women service providers inYork Region to discuss the idea of creating a family justice centre or community hub model.
